ONE WORD YET TO BE HEARD

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. —Proverbs 25:11

As a writer, I know the power of both the spoken and written word and how they can influence in either positive or negative ways. Unfortunately, much of what we hear and read today has a negative spin and is what I call “communication at its cheapest.” Here is where anyone—from celebrity to politician, world leader to the media—can use their status to manipulate words in order to suppress the truth and change the narrative.

Daily, we're inundated with statements and articles specifically intended to harm reputations and demean characters. Nowhere is this more evident than in the disrespect shown for our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Here is where the world replaces Truth and Righteousness with distortions and wickedness. Sinful actions are celebrated; godly actions are despised.

In Matthew 12:36 we read that for every idle word spoken, man will have to give an account on the Day of Judgment. If we’re going to be held accountable for idle words, imagine the condemnation for hateful and evil words. Every person will be judged by his or her words, whether spoken or written.

While the world uses politically correct words to define what can and cannot be said or written, God uses spiritually correct words found only in the Bible. There is a world of difference between the two. The dissimilarity is not only in words but also in the motives. Spiritually correct words follow the standard of the Bible, where words, for every occasion, rise to His glory and excellence.

To know what spiritual correctness is, we look to God—not man. To know what is spiritually correct is to know God’s Word, which leads to the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. In John 14:6, we read that Jesus Christ is the only one who is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the foundation, structure, and existence of spiritual correctness.

Now, as trillions upon trillions of words circle the globe every second of every day, there is one word yet to be spoken and one word we have not heard. This is not a word that will come from the media or any person small or great. This is the Word coming from the returning Christ when he breaks through the clouds with a SHOUT! (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18: In addition, while no one knows what that word might be, or in what language it will be spoken, we know that those who belong to Him will hear it and rise to meet Him in the sky. That is one word I’m longing to hear. How about you?

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

Father God, I pray that every word spoken and every word written be under your control to edify and bring peace and joy to your people. May my words to others be Your Words of love, mercy, and kindness. Thank you that Your Word is fulfilled in the birth, life, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I pray my life is a blessing to others, and may others be a blessing to me.
